Exercise Science, BS
The Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science prepares students for dynamic careers in healthcare, fitness, and athletic performance. Through a science-based curriculum, students learn to assess physical health, design personalized exercise programs, and promote safe, effective movement for individuals across a range of health conditions. Coursework covers topics such as human movement science, exercise testing and interpretation, sport psychology, training for health and performance, and the prevention and rehabilitation of injuries and chronic diseases. Graduates are equipped to evaluate risk factors, conduct fitness assessments, and motivate individuals toward healthier lifestyles in diverse settings. Upon graduation, students will be ready to pursue careers in personal and group fitness instruction, athletic training, physical therapy, sport performance, and injury rehabilitation.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Develop programming in fitness training, exercise programming, injury prevention and emergency medical applications.
- Correlate the concepts of anatomy, physiology, motor development, and kinesiology for improved perception of human movement and error detection, and correction strategies with movement patterns.
- Deconstruct specific health risk factors playing a role in the development and implementation of fitness and exercise programming for injury prevention, special population consideration, and corrective exercise strategies about scope of practice.
