The program offers a full-time and a part-time course of study, combining hybrid and online courses.
This graduate program is intended to develop high performing, skilled, and passionate special educator-practitioners who advocate for their students, understanding the developmental range, needs, and challenges of elementary and secondary learners with disabilities, in alignment with federal and state regulations and the NYSED Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Framework.
MS teacher candidates will explore disabilities and services from the perspective of equity and excellence maximized to assist in helping all students, including those who are culturally and linguistically diverse. Candidates will become well-versed in all aspects of school-age children’s learning, developing the content skills and pedagogy to motivate, teach, and help students achieve their potential. This program develops teachers' understanding of the urgent mission to advance equity based, safe environments in our classrooms and schools for all children to thrive.
